American Royal World Series of BBQKansas City
2nd Runner Up
Another year of the American Royal World Series of BBQ is in the the books. This is by far the best week in barbecue, and bringing home awards makes it that much better! This year the event moved out to the Kansas Speedway, and we couldn’t have been happier with the accommodations out there.
Burnt Finger BBQ was once again competing in both the Invitational and Open categories, as well as all of the ancillary categories: side dishes, sausage, and dessert. In total, we sent 13 entries to the judges over 2 days. It’s an exhaustingly exciting couple of days. Most definitely a labor of love!
When all was said and done, Burnt Finger BBQ was called to the awards stage four times. Our chicken took 9th place in the Invitational meat contest. In the side dish category our beans took 3rd place and our potatoes took 8th, which alongside our 30th place veggie placement added up to 2nd Runner Up in the overall side dish contest. Our meats didn’t make the awards stage for the Open contest, but our consistent placement across all categories landed us at 35th overall out of 556 of the world’s best barbecue pitmasters.
